re: Let's go way back
My guess is you shoul've coded in RealBASIC if only because then I might have understood all that...
Thinking about how some of my favourite (and not so favourite - I'm looking at you, Excel) programs were written is a bit like trying to imagine what existed before the Big Bang, and how whatever caused the Big Bang came to exist... makes my head hurt...

I for one particularly enjoying these tough bug type stories (kind of puts my morning of trying to figure out why IE removed the vertical scrollbar when it shrunk below the width of the page rather than adding the horizontal one to shame). Do tell more, please?

As an exercise, do you think you can get a long-standing cross-platform Thesaurus problem fixed. It seemingly goes back to the earliest version which had the Thesaurus, and is still in Mac Word 2004 and Word 2007 Beta 2 Technology Refresh (the latest I have access to).
Ask for the synonyms for
information
(For readers lacking Word, the synonyms it knows are
in order
in sequence
in turn
in rank
in a row
--in other words, it has looked up the phrase "in formation".)

30th September 1996 ... you joined the MacBU on my 17th birthday. I'll remember to raise a glass.

Maps!
One of the few things I've been unable to find has been a GREAT mapping program for the Mac. My ThinkPad, Streets and Trips and my Bluetooth GPS are going with me on vacation in a few weeks alongside my MacBook simply because I can't find a great map program for OSX.
PS: Yes, I'd give an arm (perhaps a leg) for a Mac copy of Streets and Trips w/ GPS support.

I'm impressed that you can remember details of the bug nearly 10 years later! Have the details stuck with you all that time, or did you look up an old bug report?
