Entourage Improvements
I am very excited for the next version of Office. If I had a wish list for the next version (particularly the student & home edition), it would go something like this:
1.) full Exchange support in Entourage
2.) smaller hard disk footprint
3.) increased stability
4.) New app - Microsoft Access for Mac!
In particular, I really would like database software from Microsoft for the Mac. I use Access across a state government network, and having support for that database so I can take home work would be great!

Thanks for all the great work....
I really just wanted to say Thanks Geoff and to the rest of the MacBU for a great year. Its good to see a team at Microsoft really take a serious interest in doing world class software on the Mac platform.
Best of luck for the new year and on the next version. OK, how do I get on the beta

re: RTL Support
It's good to hear that modest steps have been made with RTL. I wonder does MS realize how big of an impact this will have?
Take the Biblical literature publishing industry for example. The vast majority of publishers require Word compatible document submission. For anyone in Hebrew or ANE studies that require RTL fonts, there are no "easy" choices for Unicode RTL support. More and more people are switching to Macs from the PC and have been using Word for many years. To tell them that they must purchase (excluding OpenOffice.org) and re-learn an entirely different app for RTL support, and then submit their work in RTF format (which does not always properly preserve file formatting), or PDF is a poor option.
Add to this the pure number of users whose first language is Hebrew or Arabic, and you can see that while this is no doubt a huge undertaking, it will impact thousands of users across the world for whom switching to the Mac has been a great experience only to learn that the most popular word processor doesn't support something that virtually every other word processor does (including many free options).
Thanks,
Rick

Before the holiday -- can somebody check the Office 12.1.5 update?
It was available through there for a couple of days, but has been gone for a while (and I tested this by reverting back to "12.0" -- I can get the 12.1.2, 12.1.3 and 12.1.4 updates via autoupdate, but then it says no other updates are available after that...
Was it pulled from autoupdate for some reason?

Microsoft Messenger Video Conferencing
You guys really do great work - thanks. In particular your (collective) u-turn on VBA is refreshing. I work in capital markets and use complex Excel spreadsheets; while 9/10 I can use remote access to work on Windows Excel, I travel with a Mac and it will be nice to have that complete compatibility back.
However, there's one issue you have skipped over which is the hardy perennial of Messenger video conferencing. There always seems to be some good and genuine-seeming reason why it is still in development; if I recall correctly right now that's because there are technology migrations on the Windows side. That may be correct but it is a heavily-requested feature (for the benefit of other commenters wondering who uses MSN when AIM, Skype and Jabber are available, the answer is mainstream users in just about every country other than the US). Can we get an update please?

Re: A Year in MacBU Design and Development
maser – 12.1.5 should be live on MAU now – try? Also, the direct link is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AB31A564-43D2-45BD-98BF-19E9CA477B62&displaylang=en
alex – Anav posted an update on the blog prior to my post: http://www.officeformac.com/blog/An-Update-on-Messenger-for-Mac
cw – thanks for the input, definitely hear you.

Agreed-Really Work on Entourage
I bought Office 2008, I will not be using it ... it really makes Mail look pretty good. I know this sounds harsh ... but there are online mail programs that handle "the web" with greater alacrity and are free. I understand that Entourage does more. It's just that it does so much less than Outlook that it hurts switchers like myself.
