Re: Brave New Fonts
Just wish Microsoft Spain had the same offers for students you deliver there in the US.
PS: The video coverage of the DNC on Silverlight has been astonishing.
PPS: The message on the splash page for the install of Photosynth is pretty annoying. We are consumers, not Apple Inc.

Doesn't work with cyrillic
Hi and thanks for the post.
However, I'd like to notice some strange behaviour related to these fonts. If you highlight some cyrillic text and change font from 'Times New Roman' to 'Cambria', everything is quite fine (although russian glyphs don't look as fine as latin). But if you just switch your keyboard layout to 'Russian' and try to type something inside a Cambria-formatted document, Word will automatically switch you to the 'Times New Roman' font without your consent. This is quite annoying, 'cos russian users need to fiddle with the normal template just after installation in order to switch these new fonts off; otherwise they get some mixed formatting, where latin characters are in Cambria and cyrillics are in Times N R. Do you see a fix to this?
New Microsoft fonts are useless for me so far...
Looking forward to seeing your reaction,
Michael

Nice!
And crossplatform, too .. some interesting uses for output to paper with monospaced fonts, such as on invoices and the like.
One thing though; it appears in the popup menu in Mail.app as a monospaced font for use in plaintext messages, but doesn't appear as 'fixed width' in the OS X Font selection dialog. That is probably because it's a TrueType font though, instead of a 'system' font like Monaco?

“Extenders”?
You’re downplaying the fact that these fonts look only OK in the kind of font smoothing Macs use. But still.

@gf1b - Make sure that you're up-to-date with the current release -- we're up to 12.1.2 right now. We've done a lot of work in Word and Excel to improve performance and stability. If you go over to the Word and Excel public newsgroup, you'll see that there's a lot of information there about various things that have been updated. You can send feedback to us in the same way that I just told besadmin2 to do, and there's the Excel and Word public forums as well.
