It’s that time of year: while most are making merry, the MacBU is making last-minute Macworld preparations, polishing our presentations and gearing up for the annual trek to San Francisco. It’s a well-worn path and a loved tradition for us, and we’ll be out in force this year to connect with customers and friends once again.

I think the Hess List is THE must have resource for Macworld attendees (although I did realize how many parties I *wasn't* invited to. I took a trip down memory lane through your picture archive yesterday - it's amazing, friends like Andy Ihnatko and Adam Engst haven't aged a year since 1999. Trial Version of Office 2004
I bought a new Mac Mini last year that had a trial version of Office 2004. The trial version interfered with my purchased copy of Office 2004. It kept coming up as the preferred version. I was unable to delete it but but adding a new alias and opening from this alias instead of double clicking on a word document I could use my purchased copy. To start the new year, MS decided that my trial was over and disabled my working copy!!! I tried to reinstall but it just freezes at the first stupid screen. Is MS trying to force people to buy the newer version? I see my only option is to pay the evil empire for a copy of the new version after I clean the hard drive to get ride of this evil vile "trial Version" Has anyone else had this issue? Is MS disabling purchased copies intentionally when the new version comes out to improve lagging sales?
Sorry you're having issues, but it should be simple to resolve by uninstalling the trial version. This is the version of the application that is launching and giving you the error message.
Find the Microsoft Office Test Drive in your Applications folder - only this trial version expires. Retail copies don't expire.
Run the Office Uninstaller found inside the Additional Tools folder inside the application folder.
If you are asked which version you want to remove, be sure to select the demo version! Otherwise, you'll uninstall your real version of Office 2004, and have to reinstall from your CD.

Another tip: You could also uninstall everything (apps, preferences, etc.) related to Office 2004 Trial with AppZapper http://appzapper.com. It is a really handy tool. Again, you will have to reinstall your Office applications from CD, but it won't move or delete your documents.

Hi there, uurf. Cirque du Mac was our primary publish bash this year, and we along with the other sponsors had a blast.
