Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

When I was downloading a file online that should have been downloaded using microsoft word I was asked if I wanted to use this format for all future downloads. I clicked "yes" by accident and now I am having trouble downloading any files! How do I reset this??
